Zarif: Iran Open to Regional Security Talks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Tehran welcomes the launch of negotiations on the regional security.
In a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed the need for the promotion of regional cooperation among the neighboring states to ensure regional security.
He also welcomed the launch of regional security negotiations.
Expressing satisfaction with the agreements between Iran and Iraq on a railroad project linking Shalamcheh to Basra, Zarif voiced Iran’s readiness to enhance economic cooperation with Iraq.
For his part, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein hailed the constructive economic cooperation between Baghdad and Tehran and praised Iran for its efforts to promote such cooperation.
The top Iranian diplomat has talks with a number of high-ranking officials of other countries on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
Zarif will also deliver a speech at the forum about Iran’s policies regarding ties with neighbors.
