Tokyo 2020: Iran Basketball Suffers Defeat against Czech Republic
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national basketball team lost to Czech Republic 84-78 in its opening match in Group A of the 2020 Olympic Games on Sunday.
Patrik Auda scored 16 points and Blake Schilb added 14 for the Czech Republic in this match.
Behnam Yakhchali had a game-high 23 points for Iran, while Mohammad Jamshidi scored 16 and Hamed Haddadi had 15 points and 10 rebounds before fouling out late for Iran.
Both teams return to play Wednesday, with Iran facing USA and the Czech Republic playing France in Group A matchups.
