Coronavirus in Iran: Nearly 7,000 Patients at Hospital ICUs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Of the patients diagnosed with the coronavirus infection in Iran, around 7,000 are in the intensive care units of hospitals, putting pressure on the health personnel weary of having fought with the disease for a year and a half.

More than 6,930 victims of COVID-19 in Iran are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

The death toll from the pandemic in Iran has risen to 95,647, as 536 more Iranians have succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours.

Over the last 24 hours, 42,541 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 4,865 of them hospitalized.

The Health Ministry said more than 3,618,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 4,281,217 sick people.

The Ministry also said that more than 13.89 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 3.4 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 205 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.33 million.
