Coronavirus in Iran: Daily Death Record Broken Again


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients who have succumbed to the infectious disease across Iran over the past 24 hours soared to 655 on Monday, the highest death toll since the pandemic broke out in February 2020.

Over the last 24 hours, 41,194 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported in Iran, with 5,044 of them hospitalized, the Health Ministry said on Monday.

It put the death toll from COVID-19 in the country at 98,483, saying the disease has taken the lives of 655 patients over the past 24 hours.

More than 3,757,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 4,467,000 ones who have contracted the disease, the Ministry added.

Some 7,379 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The Ministry also said that more than 15.45 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 4.38 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 208 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.37 million.
