COVID Death Toll in Iran Exceeds 104,000
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran has surpassed 104,000, with over 660 more Iranians succumbing to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
Over the last 24 hours, 39,983 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 4,871 of them hospitalized, the Ministry said on Wednesday.
It put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 104,022, saying the disease has taken the lives of 665 patients over the past 24 hours.
More than 4.02 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 4,796,300 ones who have contracted the disease, the Ministry added.
Some 7,755 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.
The Ministry also said that more than 17.57 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 6.9 million have received the second dosage.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 213 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.45 million.
