Iran’s Special Envoy Holds Negotiations on Afghan Developments

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian foreign minister’s special envoy for Afghanistan held talks with the Pakistani and Afghan figures to weigh plans for the settlement of the problems in neighboring Afghanistan.

In a meeting in Tehran on Thursday, Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian held talks with his Pakistani counterpart Mohammad Sadeq Khan on the situation in Afghanistan.

They discussed the joint efforts by Tehran and Islamabad to establish lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan and help create an inclusive government in Kabul.

Taherian also held telephone conversations with Afghan figures such as Abdullah Abdullah, the head of Afghanistan’s Supreme Council of Reconciliation, and Hamed Karzai, the former Afghan president, and was briefed on the latest developments in Iran’s eastern neighbor.

Tehran insists on the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan involving all ethnic and political groups without any foreign interference.
