Iran Reports over 640 COVID-19 Deaths in 24 Hours
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry on Tuesday said more than 640 coronavirus patients have succumbed to the infectious disease in the past 24 hours.
According to the ministry’s public relations office, the total death toll from COVID-19 in Iran reached 107,794 after the disease took the lives of 643 people from Monday noon to Tuesday noon.
It added that 31,319 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, of whom 4,685 were hospitalized.
This takes the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 4,992,063, the ministry said.
It noted that more than 4.25 million coronavirus patients have recovered or been discharged from hospitals so far.
Over 18.78 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, and more than 8.71 million have received the second dosage.
Worldwide, the number of people infected with COVID-19 has surpassed 218 million and the death toll is above 4.52 million.
