Iran Lambasts US Sanctions on 4 Citizens on Bogus Charges
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Iran deplored the US government’s recent move to impose sanctions on four Iranians, saying the current US administration is repeating the failed policies of its predecessor.
In a statement on Saturday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh denounced the US Department of the Treasury’s decision to sanction four Iranian nationals on the basis of bogus allegations.
“Unfortunately, the current US authorities are following the previous administration’s failed approach,” he stated.
Khatibzadeh said those who support and benefit from the sanctions inside the US have found out that their “toolbox of sanctions” has become empty following Iran’s maximum resistance, which is why they have resorted to Hollywood-style scenarios in an attempt to resuscitate the atmosphere of sanctions.
“Washington had better realize that it has no option but to give up its addiction to sanctions and use respectful language and manner towards Tehran,” the spokesman underlined.
The US Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control said in a press statement on Friday that it has sanctioned four Iranians, whom it described as intelligence officials, for alleged targeting of an Iranian-American journalist and human rights activist living in the US.
