Coronavirus in Iran: 635 Patients Die in 24 Hours


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry put the total death toll from the coronavirus in the country at more than 111,000.

The ministry said on Tuesday that 635 COVID-19 patients died in Iran over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 111,892.

It noted that 27,138 new coronavirus cases were detected in the country from Monday noon to Tuesday noon and that 3,124 of them have been hospitalized.

According to the ministry, more than 4,422,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran so far.

Over 7,600 COVID-19 patients are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The ministry also said that more than 19.9 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, and over 10 million have received the second dosage.

Worldwide, the number of those infected with COVID-19 has surpassed 222 million and the death toll is close to 4.6 million.
