Iran Eyes New Chapter in Friendly Ties with Turkmenistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi hailed the cordial relations with Turkmenistan, hoping for the start of a new chapter in close cooperation between the two neighbors in various fields.

In a message to his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow on Sunday, Raisi congratulated the government and people of Turkmenistan on the 30th anniversary of the Central Asian country’s independence from the Soviet Union.

Describing Iran and Turkmenistan as two neighbors and relatives, Raisi said they have maintained cordial relations in accordance with the principles of good neighborliness since the independence of Turkmenistan 30 years ago.

“I hope the two countries would be able, with their efforts, to start a new chapter in the promotion of mutual friendly cooperation in all cultural, economic and political fields by getting inspiration from their rich cultures and common historical background,” the Iranian president stated.

The Independence Day of Turkmenistan is the main state holiday in the Central Asian country that is celebrated annually on September 27.
