Iran Condemns Fatal Attack on Afghanistan Shiite Mosque

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran condemned a bomb attack on a Shiite mosque in the Afghan city of Kunduz that has killed several people.

In a statement on Friday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh condemned the terrorist attack on the mosque in Kunduz.

Expressing sympathy with the families of victims of the bomb attack, the Iranian spokesman wished a recovery for the injured.

“The terrorist measures are condemned in any shape and by any side,” he underlined.

At least 15 people have been killed in the bomb attack on a Shiite mosque in Afghanistan’s northeastern city of Kunduz during Friday prayers, in the latest violence to rock the country since the Taliban takeover in August.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group, bitter rivals of the Taliban, has claimed similar recent atrocities.

“We have received more than 90 wounded patients and over 15 dead bodies, but the number will change. We are still receiving more people,” said a Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres, or MSF) hospital worker, who did not want to be named.

Meanwhile, a Taliban official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters news agency that at least 28 people had been killed in the explosion and dozens more wounded.
