COVID Daily Death Toll in Iran Declines Again
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran on Sunday registered the lowest number of daily deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic over the past 250 days.
The figures released by the Health Ministry on Sunday show that the coronavirus has taken the lives of 80 patients over the past 24 hours, the lowest daily death toll since March 23.
The pandemic has claimed over 129,600 lives in Iran since its outbreak in February 2020.
According to the statistics, 3,781 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported across the country over the past 24 hours, with 649 of them hospitalized.
More than 5.86 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,108,800 who have contracted the disease, the ministry said.
Some 3,340 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it added.
It also said that more than 57.4 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 46.51 million have received the second dosage.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 261 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.21 million.
