Iran’s Motamedi Bags Gold at 2021 World Weightlifting Championships


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Rasoul Motamedi of Iran won a gold medal at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships on Wednesday.

He lifted a total of 397kg in the men’s 102kg weight class and won a gold medal. He lifted a weight of 177 kg in snatch and 220kg in clean and jerk.

The silver medal went to South Korean Jin Yun-seong with 396kg.

Iran’s Amir Hoghoughi won the bronze medal by lifting a total of 388kg.

It was Iran’s third medal in the competition under way in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Mirmostafa Javadi earlier took a silver medal in the 81kg weight class.
