Iran Committed to Negotiated Solutions to Regional Problems: FM
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian reaffirmed Tehran’s push for the settlement of regional problems through dialogue and political solutions.
The top Iranian diplomat on Saturday held a meeting with Oman's deputy foreign minister for diplomatic affairs, Sheikh Khalifa al-Harthy, who is in Tehran to participate in a session of the Joint Strategic Consultation Committee.
Describing the improvement and expansion of relations with neighbors as a priority in the foreign policy of Iran, Amirabdollahian emphasized the significance of Oman's special position among the neighbors.
He also stressed the need for Iran and Oman to work to enhance the volume of bilateral trade at the level of friendly relations.
The foreign minister added that Iran is committed to dialogue and adoption of political solutions to resolve the bilateral and regional problems.
He further expressed Iran's readiness to negotiate with the regional countries in order to improve the bilateral relations, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
Amirabdollahian expressed hope that the efforts of all countries in the region, especially Iran and Oman, will provide the necessary ground for ending the crisis in Yemen.
For his part, al-Harthy expressed hope that the Yemeni crisis will end as soon as possible, adding that his country welcomes and supports any effort to reduce regional problems through peaceful means and dialogue.
