Way Paved for Finalization of Iran-Russia Comprehensive Deal: President
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Preparations have been made to finalize a long-awaited agreement on comprehensive cooperation between Iran and Russia, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said.
In comments at a meeting with a group of Russian economic activists and business people, held in Moscow on Thursday, Raisi said arrangements have been made for the finalization of the document on comprehensive cooperation between Iran and Russia.
Commenting on his Wednesday meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he said they have talked about bilateral, regional and international issues.
“Mr. Putin and I shared views that it is necessary to better exploit the potential of cooperation between Iran and Russia,” Raisi added, stressing the need to bring the North-South Corridor into operation and address the problems that economic activists are facing.
Neighborliness as well as common interests and common enemies make it necessary for Iran and Russia to broaden their cooperation, the president noted, saying the two states should push for progress and development to the extent that the outsiders become unable to infiltrate into the region for the fulfillment of their political or cultural objectives.
Raisi arrived in Moscow on Wednesday and held a meeting with his Russian counterpart.
The Iranian president is accompanied by the ministers of foreign affairs, oil, and economy in the trip.
This is Raisi’s third foreign trip after taking office in August 2021. He has already visited Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
