Iran Strongly Condemns Terrorist Attack on Mosque in Pakistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesman for Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Friday's terrorist attack on a Shiite mosque in Pakistan's Peshawar, saying such acts are meant to divide Muslims.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry's spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh, condemned earlier today's terrorist attack on Shiite worshippers at a mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan.

The Iranian official said in a statement released Friday afternoon that such terrorist attacks are intended to cause division among Muslims.

Khatibzadeh also expressed his regret and anguish over the tragic incedent, as well as his condolences to families of the victims. He also wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

The Iranian diplomat also urged Pakistani security forces to take strict measures and decisive actions to tighten the crackdown on terrorists in order to prevent such crimes from occurring in the future.

According to the latest reports, the number of people killed in the terrorist attack on the Peshawar Mosque has risen to 45, with 65 people injured.
