COVID Daily Deaths in Iran Drop to below 20 after 3 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The daily death toll from the coronavirus in Iran was down to 19 on Wednesday, marking the lowest number in the past 92 days.

The figures released by the Iranian Health Ministry on Wednesday indicate that the total deaths from COVID-19 in the country have reached 140,896 after the pandemic has taken the lives of 19 patients over the past 24 hours.

Over the past 24 hours, 1,607 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 221 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.

More than 6,954,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 7,212,300 ones who have contracted the disease, it said.

Some 1,200 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it added.

The ministry also said that over 64.23 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 57.41 million have received the second dosage, and more than 26.84 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 506 million and the death toll has exceeded 6.22 million.
