Iran Reports 17 More Deaths from COVID-19

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The daily death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran stood at under 20, the Health Ministry said on Friday.

The new figures released by the Health Ministry indicate that the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran has reached 141,041 after the disease took the lives of 17 patients over the past 24 hours.

The total number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 7,219,433 following the detection of 1009 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 251 patients have been admitted to the hospital.

At least 6,75,147 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 1,043 coronavirus patients are in the intensive care units, it said.

Nearly 50,965,000 COVID diagnostic tests have been performed in the country so far.

The ministry added that over 64.3 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 57.5 million have received the second dosage, and more than 26.97 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 511 million and the death toll has exceeded 6.25 million.
