Iran Hails Kuwait’s Support for Palestine
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran praised the Kuwaiti government and nation for supporting the Palestinian people and condemning the Zionist regime’s atrocities, calling for the Islamic world’s unity against the Israeli crimes.
In a telephone conversation on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Ahmed Nasser al-Sabah talked about the bilateral ties, the Palestinian issue, and the regional and international developments.
Congratulated his Kuwaiti counterpart on the advent of Eid al-Fitr, Amirabdollahian referred to the importance of holding a joint consular committee and a meeting of the coast guards of the two countries and hoped that Iran and Kuwait would hold a joint high commission in the near future.
He further pointed to the desecration of al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy city of al-Quds by the Zionist regime forces and the marking of the International Quds Day, stressing the need for unity of the Muslim world in the face of the crimes by the Zionist regime.
Emphasizing the necessity of defending the sanctity of al-Aqsa Mosque, the Iranian foreign minister praised the Kuwaiti government and people for their condemnation of the actions of the Zionist regime in al-Quds and for their support of the Palestinian people.
On Yemen, Amirabdollahian welcomed the continuation of the ceasefire in the Arab country. He also expressed hope that the humanitarian siege of Yemen would end as soon as possible and that Yemeni factions would engage in talks, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
For his part, the top Kuwaiti diplomat referred to the friendly, long-time and popular relations between the two countries and underlined the significance of expansion of ties in various political, economic and popular areas.
He also spoke about the desecration of al-Aqsa Mosque as the first Qiblah of Muslims by the Zionist occupiers, saying al-Quds is a red line for the Muslim world and Islamic countries must strengthen their joint stance in this regard and counter the crimes committed by the occupying regime.
Sheikh Ahmed Nasser al-Sabah further thanked Iran for its constructive stance and its assistance in establishing a ceasefire in Yemen and expressed hope that a permanent truce would be held in that country.
