Iran Commends OIC for Backing Palestine, Push for Peace in Muslim World
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian lauded the stances adopted by the secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in support of Palestine and the OIC for its efforts to ensure peace and security in the Islamic world.
In a telephone conversation on Thursday, the Iranian foreign minister and Secretary General of the OIC Hissein Brahim Taha discussed the latest developments in the Islamic world, including in Palestine, Yemen and Afghanistan.
Praising the stances adopted by the OIC secretary general on the issue of Palestine and the efforts of this organization in establishing peace and security in the region and the Muslim world, Amirabdollahian voiced support for the meeting of the OIC ambassadors on the issue of Palestine.
He also welcomed a meeting at the level of foreign ministers of Islamic countries about the latest developments in Palestine and about the Zionist regime's crimes committed at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Amirabdollahian also expressed support for the implementation and continuation of the ceasefire in Yemen and stressed the need to completely lift the humanitarian siege of Yemen.
The Iranian foreign minister also condemned the recent killings and acts of terrorism in Afghanistan and called for more attention from the Islamic countries as well as the international community to help resolve the problems of the Afghan people, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
For his part, Brahim Taha described the issue of Palestine as the top priority of the OIC and the Islamic world.
The Chadian diplomat stated that the OIC has always supported Palestine, is pursuing different initiatives to support Palestine and the holy Quds, and follows up on the legitimate rights of Palestinians with the support of major Islamic countries.
He also condemned the heinous terrorist acts in Afghanistan, slamming them as an attempt to divide Muslims.
Brahim Taha finally noted that all efforts of the OIC are aimed at establishing peace and security in the Islamic world and the development and expansion of relations and cooperation among the organization’s member states.
