Foreigners Upsetting Regional Security, Iran Tells UAE

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Expressing Iran’s support for the safety and development of its neighbors, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian reminded the United Arab Emirates that the presence and interference of foreigners would disturb regional security.

Amirabdollahian and his Emirati counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan discussed a range of bilateral, regional and international issues in a telephone conversation on Saturday.

Highlighting the priority that Iran gives to the neighbors in its foreign policy agenda, Amirabdollahian said more frequent meetings and consultations between Iranian and Emirati officials would pave the way for the expansion of relations.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran favors the protection of security and progress for the neighbors and the region, and believes that foreign interference and presence disrupt regional security,” the top Iranian diplomat noted.

He also denounced the presence of the Zionist regime in the region as the cause of instability, insecurity, terror and acts of sabotage across the entire region.

For his part, the Emirate foreign minister pointed to the common interests of the two countries, welcoming regular consultations between the authorities of the two nations.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed also assured Amirabdollahian that the UAE will not allow any party to use its soil for destructive measures against the neighboring countries and will always care about the security of its neighbors.

The two foreign ministers also talked about the latest developments in the Vienna negotiations on the revival of the JCPOA and removal of sanctions on Iran.
