Intelligence Forces Disband Terrorist Network in Northwest Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Intelligence Ministry said its forces have dismantled a terrorist network affiliated with separatist outlaws in the northwestern province of West Azarbaijan.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Intelligence Ministry said its forces in West Azarbaijan Province have identified and arrested the members of a 10-strong network of terrorists affiliated with separatist outlaws in an operation performed in cooperation with the IRGC Ground Force's Hamzeh Seyed al-Shohada Base and the Justice Ministry’s provincial office.
According to the statement, the network of terrorists had formed a number of cells with plots to carry out various operations including sabotage, explosion, attacks on Iran’s vital and economic centers and facilities, creating traffic jams, and extortion from people, particularly from successful local entrepreneurs.
Backed by terrorist outlaws stationed in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, the network of terrorist were infiltrating into Iran from the West Azarbaijan borders, the statement noted, adding that all 10 members of the group have been arrested in a series of smart and surprise operations by the intelligence forces.
The advanced technical and telecommunication gear and military equipment of the terrorists have been confiscated, including various firearms, rocket-propelled grenades, grenades, TNT explosive material, and ammunition, it added.
Describing the security of the Iranian nation as the Intelligence Ministry’s red line, the statement said Iran once again warns the Iraqi Kurdistan Region officials to expel terrorist mercenaries, outlaws and enemies of the security and calm of people.
