Iran’s Neighborly Policy Not Contingent on US Permission: Spokesman
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani said Friday that Iran's does not rely its neighborly policy on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or permission by the US.
“The false dichotomy between the JCPOA (to which Iran, unlike the US, remains a party) and good relations between Iran and its neighbors, including Russia, does not hide the fact that the unfaithful US is the main hurdle to a deal,” the Foreign Ministry Spokesman said, adding that the country’s neighborly policy “is not contingent on JCPOA or US permission.”
The 7th Conference of Astana Process Guarantor States was held in Tehran on Tuesday night, with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in attendance.
During the meeting, the three presidents discussed the latest developments in Syria as well as ways to strengthen the fight against terrorism.
