Iranian Spokesman Raps Silence on Israeli Atrocities
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry deplored a muted response from the international community and the self-proclaimed advocates of human rights after the Zionist regime’s recent brutal attacks on Gaza.
In a post on his Twitter account on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said Alaa Qaddoum, the five-year-old girl who was killed during Israel’s initial string of attacks on the al-Shuja’iya neighborhood of the besieged Gaza Strip on Friday, was only one of the children martyred in the ongoing attacks by the apartheid Zionist regime against Gaza.
“It’s a pity that the fake advocates of human rights are supporting the daily crimes committed by an occupying regime against the people of an occupied country in the name of ‘the right of self-defense’,” the Iranian diplomat said.
The spokesman said the civilians killed in the recent strikes are instances of the database of the Zionist regime’s targets in its recent attacks on Gaza.
“The silence of the international community and the self-proclaimed advocates of human rights on the crimes committed by the Zionists in Gaza is deplorable and a great pity. The irony is that the US Department of State has affirmed ‘full support’ for Israel’s right to self-defense,” Kanaani said in the tweet.
At least 24 Palestinians, including six children, have been killed and 203 wounded during the two days of Israeli attacks on Gaza, according to the Gaza health ministry.
More than 400 rockets were launched at Israel in response, setting off air raid sirens and sending people running to bomb shelters.
The Zionist regime’s warplanes have stepped up attacks with direct hits on four residential buildings in Gaza City.
Another air attack on Saturday destroyed a car, killing a 75-year-old woman and wounding six other people. Israeli fighter jets dropped two bombs on the house of an alleged Islamic Jihad member.
