Iran Ready for Energy Cooperation with Zimbabwe

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi expressed the country’s readiness to broaden cooperation with Zimbabwe in various fields, including the energy sector, mining industry, agriculture and technology.

President Raisi held a meeting with his Zimbabwean counterpart Emmerson Mnangagwa on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Thursday.

Highlighting the Iranian government's approach to developing relations with the African countries, Raisi stressed the need to activate the joint commission for cooperation between the two countries.

"There is room for the development of cooperation with Zimbabwe in various sectors, including energy, mining, agriculture and technology," he stated.

"The cooperation of independent countries will neutralize the efforts of the hegemons aimed at preventing progress," President Raisi underlined.

For his part, Mnangagwa pointed to the diverse fields of cooperation with Iran and said, "The presence of Iranian companies in the agricultural sector, including export and import, and extraterritorial cultivation of grains and horticultural products, is a good opportunity for cooperation between the two countries."

Hailing the good memories from his past trips to Iran, the president of Zimbabwe added, "Both countries have been the targets of imperialism's grudges, so we need closer cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran."
