VP Highlights Iran’s Plan for Tripartite Cooperation with Russia, Azerbaijan
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber said the document on collective cooperation among Iran, Russia, and the Republic of Azerbaijan plays an effective role in developing relations.
Mokhber made the remarks in a meeting with Prime Minister of Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, held on the sidelines of the Caspian Economic Forum in Moscow.
There are many capacities for developing cooperation between the two countries in the transportation sector, the Iranian vice president noted, adding that Tehran is determined to promote cooperation with Baku.
He also referred to the preferential trade agreements, aimed at increasing the volume of trade exchanges, as one of Iran’s strategies, saying the current level of commercial exchanges between Iran and Azerbaijan Republic is not commensurate with their existing capacities.
Mokhber added that the cultural and religious commonalities between Iran and Azerbaijan Republic can pave the way for accelerating the development of mutual relations and help achieve the goals and results desired by the two neighbors in commercial cooperation, the Iranian government’s official website reported.
He finally stressed that the borders of the neighboring countries is a red line for Iran and the threat to the boundaries is not acceptable at all.
For his part, Asadov hailed the friendly relations between the presidents of the two countries, saying the cordial relations can be the basis of interaction between the two countries and accelerate the plans to expand the ties.
He also appreciated Iran's support for the transfer of gas from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan Republic.
Asadov finally emphasized the need to follow up the process of interaction through the joint commission of cooperation between the two countries.
