Bulgaria Protecting Rights of Nations at IAEA BoG, FM Tells Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Bulgarian foreign minister assured his Iranian counterpart that Bulgaria, as a member of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency for 2022-2023, is committed to safeguarding the nuclear rights of all nations.

In a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian on Tuesday, Nikolay Milkov expressed hope that all parties to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) would return to the agreement.

He also pointed to Bulgaria’s membership in the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors, stressing that Sofia will fulfill its commitments to play a fair and sincere role in the IAEA and support the rights of all nations at the agency.

For his part, Amirabdollahian referred to the good relations between Tehran and Sofia and underlined the need to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Amirabdollahian and Milkov described this occasion as a good opportunity to study and further expand the bilateral relations in various fields.

They also spoke about different areas of potential and real economic cooperation between Iran and Bulgaria and expressed hope that the 20th joint economic commission would be held in the near future.
