Iran Jams Enemy’s Aircraft from 400 km Away: Official
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian deputy defense minister highlighted the country’s great progress in the air defense industry, saying the military forces have jammed a hostile reconnaissance aircraft at a distance of 400 kilometers.
Afshin Naderi Sharif, the Iranian defense minister’s deputy for industrial and research affairs, said local air defense forces have made such significant progress in recent years that a hostile aerial object cannot easily enter the country’s airspace without being detected.
“We have been able to jam the enemy’s reconnaissance aircraft at a distance of 400 kilometers. The enemy is also aware that such know-how has been gained by the defense industry of the Islamic Republic and has been institutionalized,” he added.
Naderi Sharif noted that foreign countries with advances in technology have demanded to purchase defense systems from Iran.
Dismissing the foreign media propaganda aimed at downplaying the quality of Iranian arms, the deputy minister said such hostile attempts have mainly focused on Iranian drones.
“The enemy had acknowledged our missile power, but it did not expect us to make fundamental progress in the drone sphere under such sanctions,” he added.
In recent weeks, the Western governments have accused Iran of arming Russia with arms and military drones amid the Ukraine war. Tehran has categorically rejected the allegations on the delivery of drones for use in the war in Ukraine.
In remarks at a meeting with a group of academic elites and outstanding scientific talents on October 19, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei hailed the country’s success in developing military weapons and making advances in the arms industries.
“A few years ago, when photographs of our advanced missiles and drones were released, some said that they were photoshopped. But now they’re saying ‘Iranian drones are very dangerous, why are you selling it to so and so, why are you giving it to so and so?’,” the Leader stated.
