Doha’s Corniche to Host Iranian Fine Art during Qatar Football World Cup

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An exhibition of Iranian handicrafts and traditional arts will be staged on Doha’s Corniche waterfront, on the sidelines of the World Cup in Qatar, the Iranian deputy tourism minister said.

The intentions to showcase the abilities and assets of the Iranian nation's handicrafts on the sideline of the Qatar World Cup football matches were announced by Deputy Minister of Handicrafts of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Maryam Jalali on Tuesday, while envisioning the World Cup in Qatar as an opportunity for cultural exchange.

“We are obviously not allowed to sell our products, but this is merely a demonstration. Nevertheless, we are attempting to demonstrate our abilities, capabilities, and assets in the field of handicrafts by utilizing the most up-to-date visual approaches,” she said.

Jalali also said that all Iranian handicrafts are precious and exquisite and the result of creativity, taste, and thought of Iranian ecosystems; therefore, they should be included in the value chain.

“Every craft requires a shell, much like a jewel,” she added.

Back in August, spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade Omid Qalibaf announced that in addition to handicrafts exhibitions, Doha will host five more Iranian exhibitions in the fields of food, furniture and chandeliers, decoration, construction materials, clothing, Islamic fashion, hotel and catering, and technical and engineering services.

These exhibits will be held in collaboration with Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO) as well as Iran’s embassy in Doha, the official added.

During an important event in May, Ezzatollah Zarghami, the minister of Iran's cultural heritage, tourism, and handicrafts, and Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the minister of Qatar's culture and sports, met in Tehran to discuss how to promote tourism in both countries.
