Rumor of Shamkhani’s Resignation Denied
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A news agency denied the media story about the resignation of Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani.
Nour News, affiliated with Iran's Supreme National Security Council, rejected as “false and baseless” the rumor that Shamkhani has stepped down.
The news agency slammed the media stories about the resignation of secretary of the Supreme National Security Council as “a vain attempt at diverting the public opinion from the crimes that the mercenaries linked with the outsiders have committed by killing innocent people in recent days.”
On Wednesday, seven people, including a child and a woman, lost their lives and ten more were wounded after two gunmen started shooting at people in Izeh in Iran’s Khuzestan province.
Security officials in Khuzestan province said that two gunmen on motorbikes started shooting at people and law enforcement officers in the center of the town, using war weapons.
The terrorist act comes only three weeks after 15 pilgrims, including a woman and two children, were martyred and 19 others wounded in a terrorist attack on Shah-e Cheragh holy shrine in the city of Shiraz in Fars province.
Iranian officials have pledged that Tehran will deliver a crushing response to the masterminds of the bloodshed.
