Iran’s Navy Needs No Permission for Presence in High Seas: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Navy has been expanding its presence in the international waters around the world and would never obtain permission from any foreign power for navigation operations in the high seas, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said.

Addressing people at the Friday prayers in Tehran, Rear Admiral Irani said the Iranian Navy maintains its presence around the world without asking permission from any power for such mighty presence.

He said the operations by the Iranian flotillas in the high seas indicate that the Navy has preserved its power at the highest level and with the most complicated homegrown equipment in spite of all plots, sanctions and pressures.

Today, the Iranian naval forces have been deployed to all oceanic waters to escort the country’s oil tankers and trade vessels, the commander added.

In a meeting with a number of commanders and officials of Iran’s Navy on Monday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei stressed the need for the Navy to bolster and maintain its presence in international waters.

The Leader also emphasized the need for the Navy to boost its combat capabilities and defense equipment and to continue navigation in remote and international waters.
