Powerful Earthquakes Strike Turkish-Syrian Border, Killing at Least Three
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Turkey was hit by two earthquakes on Monday, just two weeks after the country was devastated by another set of powerful tremors.
The new quakes caused several buildings to collapse, according to the Anadolu agency.
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) warned locals to avoid coastal areas due to a risk of a rising sea level on the Mediterranean coast.
Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu confirmed that at least three people died and 213 were injured in the fresh earthquakes. The quakes were also felt in Syria, Jordan, Egypt, and occupied Palestine.
Two weeks ago, two major quakes with a magnitude of 7.8 and 7.6 hit ten Turkish provinces, claiming at least 41 lives and affecting over 13 million people.
