Iran Holds Air Defense Drill

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) staged a joint air defense exercise across Iran.

The exercise that kicked off on Saturday night was attended by the Iranian Army’s Air Defense and the IRGC forces, the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base (the central headquarters of Iran’s Air Defense) announced.

The drill was held to assess the preparedness of the military air defense systems.

The Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base said the exercise, performed in coordination with the integrated air defense network of Iran, was held in some part of the country at nighttime.

In remarks in September 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei described the air defense base as a very crucial part of the Armed Forces that is at the frontline of confronting enemies of Iran.

The Leader also stressed the importance of accelerating the capabilities of the base and the Air Forces' staff.
