President to Open Iran’s South Pars Phase 14

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is going to inaugurate the Phase 14 of the giant South Pars gas field in the coming days, a spokesperson said.

Spokesperson for the administration Ali Bahadori Jahromi announced on Tuesday that Raisi will travel to the southern province of Bushehr in the coming days to officially inaugurate the 14th phase of South Pars gas field.

Describing the Phase 14 as a project that has been developed by using the largest amount of domestic capacities in comparison with the other phases in the gas field, the spokesman said the daily output of gas in the new phase will stand at over 50 million cubic meters, valued at around $3.5 billion per annum.

He noted that the president will also open other projects in the coastal province, including water desalination plants, water transfer systems and new housing projects.

The South Pars gas field, whose development has been divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar.

It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers belongs to Iran.

It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
