IFDA Predicts Export of $200 Million of Medicines This Year: Official
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Head of the Iranian Food and Drug Administration (IFDA) said, “It is expected that $200 million worth of medicines would be exported overseas in the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2023).”
Seyed Heidar Mohammadi made the remarks in an interview with IRNA on Tuesday and stated that medicine production growth is strengthened with the sustainable provision of exports.”
With the studies made in this regard, it is expected that Iran would export $200 million worth of medicines to other countries in 2023.
Presently, the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi has focused on supporting the production of medicines, medical equipment and powdered milk, he said, adding that the export of medicines, powdered milk and medical equipment has been restricted in order to meet the domestic demand.
It is hoped that the export of these products would increase next year, he emphasized.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the deputy minister of health and medical education said there is not any shortage in the field of provision of medicines in the country.
In addition to meeting the domestic demand, Mohammadi restated that $200 million worth of medicines would be exported to other countries in the current year.
