Militants Fail to Infiltrate Syrian Gov’t-Controlled Territory in Idlib
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Militants of the Turkestan Islamic Party terrorist group attempted to break into the territory controlled by Syrian government forces in the Idlib governorate, according to Oleg Gurinov, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria.
"Militants from the Turkestan Islamic Party terrorist group made an attempt to infiltrate the territory controlled by Syrian government troops near the settlement of Kafer Batikh in the Idlib governorate," he said on Friday, TASS reported.
According to Gurinov, Syrian troops thwarted the attempt and the terrorists, having sustained losses, retreated to their initial positions. "Three militants were killed," he added.
He also said that four shelling attacks by Turkestan Islamic Party and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militants had been reported in the Idlib de-escalation zone during the day.
"One shelling attack was reported in the Aleppo governorate, two attacks - in the Idlib governorate, and one - in the Latakia governorate," he said.
