Iran Determined to Utilize North-South Corridor Capacity: Official
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of Iran's Transport Development Fund has stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to make use of the North-South Corridor's capacity.
According to Davood Danesh Ja'fari, given the Fund's activity mechanism, opportunities have been provided for foreign companies and the domestic private sector to participate in the development of transport infrastructure, such as the North-South Corridor.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 27th International Exhibition of Transport and Logistics Services and Technologies dubbed “Tans-Russia 2023” held in Moscow on Friday, he added, “In addition to implementing a part of transport infrastructures’ projects using the internal financial resources, using foreign resources of other partners such as India and Russia is possible for joint venture of financing these projects.”
To activate all the capacities of North-South corridor, it is required to strengthen the transport network in the Caspian Sea through establishing evermore relations with the Russian ports and other Caspian Sea littoral states, he continued.
In eastern Iran, considerable projects exist for strengthening and developing transport at North-South Corridor, he said, adding,” A part of transport requirements of the region can be met through taking advantage of the capacity of Bandar Abbas Railway to Incheh Boroun and Turkmenistan and also Sarakhs.”
According to him, more than 430 companies from 22 countries have participated in this prestigious exhibition.
The exhibition consists of 12 different sectors including logistic services, road, rail, air, ports, terminals and e-commerce .
