Iran Ranked 21st Worldwide for Vehicles in Use

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An international institute announced in its latest report that Iran has stood at the 21st place in the world in terms of the number of vehicles in use.

The International Organization for Motor Vehicle Manufacturers has reported a 2% growth of vehicle fleet in Iran over the past five years, saying the country is ranked 48th in the world in terms of vehicles per capita.

The organization has also announced in its latest report the transit of 1.59 billion passenger and commercial vehicles worldwide.

According to the report, based on the statistics of 2020, the number of vehicles in use in the world has registered a four percent growth.

It also put the total number of passenger and commercial vehicles in use in Iran at 15.963 million, the rate of which has shown a two percent growth from 2015 to 2020.

The number of vehicles in use in Iran in 2015 had stood at over 14.130 million, while it has increased to 1.833 million during five years.

China has the largest number of vehicles in use in the world with around 318 million vehicles, followed by the United States and Japan, with 89 million 76 million vehicles in use, respectively.

A number of countries that have fewer vehicles per capita than Iran are Colombia with 11 vehicles, Ecuador with 152, Peru with 88, India with 33, and Indonesia with 78 vehicles.
