Iranian FM Praises Oman's Regional Policy in Visit to Muscat
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian praised Oman's policy of consolidating and strengthening relations with the regional countries during a meeting with his Omani counterpart in Muscat.
Leading a delegation, Amirabdollahian visited Oman at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi.
Referring to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's visit to Muscat and the upcoming visit of the Sultan of Oman to Tehran as a turning point in bilateral relations across various sectors, he expressed hope that the 20th session of the Joint Economic Commission between the two countries, scheduled soon in Tehran, would pave the way for further cooperation between the two countries.
Regarding regional issues, the Iranian foreign minister pointed out the significance of Muscat and Baghdad's hosting of talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation. He expressed satisfaction with the promising situation of relations among regional states and Iran's adherence to the principle of good-neighborliness.
Amirabdollahian also emphasized the need for comprehensive and indivisible security in the region and described the presence of foreign forces as costly and disruptive to regional security. He welcomed the significant step taken towards achieving peace in Yemen and hoped that the talks in Sana'a between Omani and Saudi delegations would set the stage for peace.
The Iranian foreign minister then condemned the Zionist regime's aggression against the Palestinian people, particularly the aggression against Gaza and Al-Aqsa Mosque. He also appreciated Oman's support for the Palestinian people.
During the meeting, the officials discussed transportation issues, setting up direct and regular sea lines, activating the Ashgabat Agreement, commercial cooperation between the two countries in the fields of foods and agricultural products, mutual investment, and cooperation in the energy sector.
