Iran Sympathizes with Serbia over Mass Shooting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed sympathy with the Serbia government and people over a deadly shooting at a school in the European country.

In a message on Friday, Nasser Kanaani voiced regret over a shooting at a school in the Serbian capital Belgrade that has killed and wounded a number of schoolchildren.

He described the incident as tragic and offered condolences to the government and people of Serbia as well as the bereaved families of the victims.

Two mass shootings in two days in Serbia have sent the country and surrounding Balkan region into a state of shock.

Late on Thursday, at least eight people were killed and 14 wounded after a 21-year-old suspect in a moving car opened fire on passers-by in a town south of Belgrade.

A day earlier, a 13-year-old suspect carried out an attack that officials say he had planned for months, killing eight of his schoolmates and a security guard.

In the shooting rampage at the Vladislav Ribnikar primary school in central Belgrade, the assailant used his father’s guns.
