Iran’s Diplomatic Initiatives Promise End to Crucial Regional Challenges: FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian described the country’s initiatives based upon its dynamic diplomacy as a promising prospect for tackling the major regional challenges.

The top Iranian diplomat arrived in Moscow on Tuesday night to take part in a quadripartite meeting with his Russian, Turkish and Syrian counterparts for talks about the situation in Syria.

In a post on his Twitter account, Amirabdollahian said, “The initiatives brought by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s dynamic and multidimensional diplomacy could offer a prospect for an end to the fundamental challenges in the entire region by completing the process of convergence.”

The Iranian foreign minister underlined that “the Syrian government and nation are part of the reality of the region.”

In an address at the UN in March, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations stressed the need to lift the inhumane unilateral sanctions on Syria in order to provide impartial and non-discriminatory humanitarian aid for its people who are suffering in the aftermath of a recent earthquake.

He also noted that the continued plundering of Syria's natural resources by foreign forces that have resulted in a severe fuel shortage and exacerbated the humanitarian situation must be ended.
