Israeli Forces Kill Two Palestinians in West Bank Clashes
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Palestinian medics and eyewitnesses reported that two Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in the town of Qabatiya near Jenin, in the northern West Bank, early Wednesday.
A video circulating on social media showed the lifeless bodies of the two young men covered in blood, moments after being shot during intense clashes in Qabatiya.
Local sources and eyewitnesses stated that Israeli forces, supported by armored vehicles, entered the center of Qabatiya to apprehend Palestinians wanted by the Israeli regime forces for their alleged involvement in attacks against Israel.
They added that heavy clashes and gunfire erupted between Palestinian resistance fighters and the Israeli regime's military, with explosions heard throughout the town.
Eyewitnesses further revealed that a third Palestinian was critically injured and detained by the Israeli troops before they withdrew from the area.
Since the beginning of January, the Israeli army has conducted daily raids in Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps to arrest individuals suspected of involvement in attacks against Israel.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health released a statement confirming that over 100 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli regime military during these daily raids since January.
The raid in Qabatiya coincided with escalating tensions between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of 15 Palestinians, including five resistance fighters and ten civilians.
The Arab League (AL) condemned Israel for the heinous crime.
Saeed Abu Ali, AL assistant secretary-general for Palestine and occupied Arab territories affairs, accused the Israeli regime of engaging in a policy that obstructs peace and fuels violence in the region, holding it fully responsible for any escalation.
Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli fighter jets and unmanned drones launched surprise attacks on buildings housing senior military leaders of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in Gaza.
The health ministry in Gaza reported that the airstrikes resulted in the deaths of 13 Palestinians and left more than 20 others injured, including ten women and children.
The PIJ confirmed the deaths of three commanders, Jihad Ghannam, Khalil Al-Bahtini, and Tareq Izzeldeen, in a statement and vowed a response.
In a separate airstrike later in the afternoon, the Israeli military claimed to have killed two PIJ militants who were allegedly preparing a rocket attack against Israel.
