Developing, Completing Energy Value Chain between Iran, Russia ‘Essential’: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Since the promotion of trade and transit and oil and gas swap deals for active Russian companies via Iranian soil was not taken into serious consideration over the past years, the development and completion of energy value chain are ‘necessary’ now, an official said.

Special Aide of Iran’s Deputy Oil Minister for International Affairs Hossein Shamali made the comment in Tehran on Tuesday in the first meeting of Iranian and Russian companies in the oil and gas sector.

Stressing that the oil and gas industry will play a key role in the relations between Iran and Russia in coming years, he said that suitable ways will be paved for the two countries along with sustainable development.

Strengthening this relationship hinges on the development of relations between the public and private sectors of the two countries, Shamali emphasized.

Noting that Iran and Russia are two influential countries in the field of supplying sustainable energy in the world, the deputy oil minister said that cooperation and collaboration of the two countries can help the stability of energy between the two sides.

Participation of both public and private companies will lead to the transfer of important oil and gas projects to the private sector companies of the two countries, he concluded.
