Iran, Syria Ink Insurance MoU

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Tehran and Damascus on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding to broaden mutual cooperation in the insurance industry, an official of the Central Insurance of Iran said.

In comments on Friday, Mostafa Raoufi pointed to 15 cooperation documents between Tehran and Damascus signed during the Iranian president’s recent visit to Syria, noting that setting up a joint bank and insurance company was one of the important issues agreed by the two sides.

Expert-level talks were held between senior officials of the two countries regarding the transfer of technology and know-how as well as holding training courses which will go into operation in the near future, he emphasized.

Regarding the insurance services, Raoufi said the Central Insurance of Iran will provide full insurance cover for freight, cargo, passengers, earthquake and flood in Syria without any limitation.
