At Least Seven Dead, Dozens Injured after Storm, Flooding Hit Parts of Iran (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of Iran’s Emergency Organization, Jafar Miadfar, confirmed the loss of seven lives and injuries to 59 individuals in the aftermath of recent storm and flooding in the country.

Miadfar said that within the last two days, the capital city of Tehran reported 27 injuries, while Ahar city and the provinces of Isfahan, Mazandaran, and Alborz recorded two, 15, 5, and 10 injuries, respectively.

Miadfar also said that heavy rains on Wednesday and Thursday resulted in the unfortunate deaths of seven Iranians.

Babak Mahmoudi, the head of the Relief and Rescue Organization, provided further details on the relief and rescue operations. He noted that emergency assistance was required in 17 provinces, 32 counties, and 47 regions, including 35 villages.

 

 

During this period, assistance was provided to a total of 2,266 individuals, with 72 people finding temporary shelter and 31 individuals being transferred to safe areas. Mahmoudi expressed his deep regret, stating, "Unfortunately, seven compatriots lost their lives in the flood, one person in a landslide, and one person due to being struck by lightning."

Furthermore, a powerful wind storm caused injuries to 27 individuals, with 18 receiving treatment at health centers and nine receiving outpatient care.

In Isfahan province, three citizens lost their lives due to flooding, while nine others were injured. Additionally, two individuals sustained injuries from a landslide on Kandovan road in Mazandaran province.

The Crisis Management Organization of Iran issued warnings for 21 provinces in the country until Sunday, urging people to avoid traveling through mountains and camping near rivers.
