Iran Pushing to Broaden Ties with Africans: FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister of Iran Hossein Amirabdollahian highlighted the priority that Tehran givees to the expansion of relations with African countries.

In a meeting in Tehran on Sunday, Amirabdollahian and Burkina Faso's Deputy Foreign Minister Issa Buro held talks about the recent developments in the relations between the two countries and the exchange of delegations.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has put the development of ties with African countries on its agenda," the Iranian foreign minister said.

He also welcomed the expansion of bilateral ties and described the meeting of the joint commission in Burkina Faso in the near future as a good opportunity to adjust relations in the economic, trade, scientific and educational sectors.

For his part, Issa Buro said he was pleased to visit Tehran and described the purpose of the visit as the examination of areas of mutual interest between the two countries, especially in the field of economy.

He also underlined Burkina Faso’s determination to open an embassy in Tehran and send an ambassador, adding that given the will of the two sides to expand their relations and the existing engineering capabilities and advances of Iran, the necessary ground exists to deepen and expand relations in various fields.
