Syrian, Russian Warplanes Continue to Target Terrorist Groups in NW Syria (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian warplanes carried out missile strikes on multiple sites belonging to terrorist groups in the vicinity of the town of Yadouda, located west of Daraa, as the country continues to intensify attacks against strongholds of the terrorist organizations.

In a separate operation, Russian warplanes also conducted several airstrikes targeting various locations and positions of terrorist groups near the town of Sarjah, situated in southern Idlib. Another Russian airstrike specifically targeted the positions of terrorist groups in the vicinity of the village of Sarja in southern Idlib.

These military actions are part of the ongoing mobilization of Syrian Arab Army units towards the front lines in Idlib and Aleppo. At the moment, multiple assault units with a history of engaging in fierce battles against terrorist organizations are being deployed in the region, according to Syria media.

Meanwhile, terrorist groups have retaliated by launching rocket shells at the town of Jourin, located in the al-Ghab plain, northwest of Hama. The extent of damage caused by these attacks is currently unknown.

The recent airstrikes by Syrian and Russian forces were in response to previous attacks carried out by terrorist groups targeting civilian areas and government forces in northern and northwestern Syria. According to a statement issued by the Syrian Ministry of Defense on Sunday, the airstrikes were also a response to the recent wave of militant drone attacks in the neighboring provinces of Hama and Latakia. These drone attacks resulted in the loss of civilian lives and significant damage to private properties.

During the past week, joint aerial raids conducted by Syrian and Russian forces successfully destroyed the headquarters, weapons caches, and drone launch sites of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) terrorists and their affiliated groups, including the Turkistan Islamic Party in Syria, a Salafist terrorist organization. The strikes led to the deaths of numerous militants and caused injuries to many others.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense emphasized that among the casualties were several leaders of terrorist groups, including Abdul Karim Abu Dawood al-Turkistani, Saifullah Abu Abdul Haq al-Turkistani, Mustafa Sheikh al-Sat, Abdul Rahman Saadoun, Abu Karrar, Mohammed Saeed Nasouh, Ridwan Maatramaoui, and Mahmoud Sheikh al-Hara.

The increased presence of Syrian and Russian warplanes and intensified airstrikes demonstrate a concerted effort to weaken and dismantle the strongholds of the terrorist organizations.

Russia has been providing crucial military assistance to the Syrian forces in their battles across the war-torn country. The Russian assistance, which began in September 2015 at the official request of the Syrian government, has proven effective as Syrian forces continue to reclaim key areas from the remnants of the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group and other foreign-backed factions.
