PTA Significant for Promoting Iran-Indonesia Trade: Envoy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Indonesian ambassador to Tehran said signing a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) is of paramount importance for the promotion of trade between the two countries.

Indonesia is mulling over the package proposed by Iran, Jakarta’s Ambassador to Tehran Ronny Prasetyo Yuliantoro said, expressing hope that the PTA would soon be finalized between the two countries.

He said the agreement is important for accessing the two sides to the lucrative markets of either side.

The Indonesian ambassador to Tehran met with the Caretaker of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Mehdi Zeyghami at the venue of the organization to discuss bilateral ties and issues of mutual interests.

During the meeting, the Indonesian envoy invited Iranian traders and merchants to attend international exhibitions in Indonesia and stated that Indonesia’s largest trade fair will be held in October.

The Iranian deputy minister of industry, for his part, pointed to dispatching and admitting the trade and economic delegations and active presence at exhibitions of the target countries as one of the main priorities of his organization.

Highlighting the all-out relations between Iran and Indonesia established since many years ago, Zeyghami referred to a memorandum of understanding inked in the field of bartering between the two countries and added that the MoU can help develop bilateral trade to a great extent.

PTA, agreements related to the halal food byproducts and customs duties were among the subjects discussed at the meeting.
