Iran, Uzbekistan Stress Strengthening Technical Cooperation in Agricultural Sector


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Officials from Iran and Uzbekistan emphasized the need for strengthening technical cooperation in the agricultural sector, including in water and soil projects to deal with the water shortage problem.

In a meeting held between the ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Iran and Iran's Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Water and Soil Affairs Safdar Niyazi Shahraki in Tashkent on Tuesday, the two sides stressed strengthening and developing bilateral cooperation and also pursuing the agreements inked at the 15th Iran-Uzbekistan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission.

During the meeting, Uzbekistan's ambassador to Tehran, Bahador Abdullayev, announced the readiness of his country to develop cooperation with Iran in relevant fields and then submitted a comprehensive report regarding the latest situation of water and soil projects.

He pointed to the valuable and fruitful experience of Iran in the field of dealing with the water shortage problem in the region and the world and noted that his country is interested in deepening technical cooperation with Iran in the field of agriculture.
