Iranian Border Police Seize Over 2 Tons of Narcotics in South Eastern Province
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Commander of Iranian Border Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ali Goodarzi announced on Friday the successful destruction of four drug smuggling groups and the seizure of more than 2,400 kilograms of narcotics.
This achievement came after an armed confrontation between the Iranian Border Police and the drug traffickers in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
Commander Goodarzi highlighted the commitment of the border guards to control and safeguard the country’s borders and to take decisive action against drug trafficking, as they identified major drug smuggling gangs and made it a priority through precise operational planning and intensified control measures.
He added that through extensive intelligence operations the drug shipments entering the country were discovered and the operational teams of brave border guards ambushed the drug traffickers that resulted in the seizure of four drug smuggling groups within the past 24 hours.
“During these operations, the courageous border guards successfully confiscated three vehicles used for drug transportation, three motorcycles, and over two tons and 416 kilograms of narcotics, specifically crystal methamphetamine,” Commander Goodarzi said.
Goodarzi mentioned that two smugglers were arrested a number of wireless communication devices, as well as weapons, and ammunition were discovered. He also emphasized the his forces’ dedication to combating the heinous phenomenon of drug trafficking.
